Who are we? What sets us apart?
Who are we? What sets us apart from other wrestling clubs? The Washington Grizzlies Wrestling Club or WGWC was established over a decade ago. We practice out of Peninsula High School Mat Room (above the pool, located in Gig Harbor WA) We strive for not only excellence and competitiveness in the sport of wrestling but also to promote a healthy, fun, and family oriented environment for our wrestlers and families. The Grizzlies are a part of the Junior Pierce County League. This league is very competitive and brings out the best in our wrestlers. The grizzlies provide their wrestlers with ample opportunities to grow as wrestlers and individuals. A couple ways we do this is one, we as a team host many tournaments, unlike many clubs. Another way the grizzlies provide opportunity for growth is through incentives to do well in school, we make our wrestlers aware that school is very important, whether that be providing scheduled time before practice for homework help or rewards for when wrestlers bring in good report cards. Another way the grizzlies are set apart from most wrestling clubs is that we practice 4 days a week. In conjunction with 3 days a week practices and many coaches we are able to provide a lot of one on one time with coach and wrestler to ensure proper practice for our wrestlers to exceed to their upmost capabilities. We, The Washington Grizzlies Wrestling Club try our hardest to provide as many options and the highest quality as we can to make sure that our wrestlers excel in not only wrestling but in many other aspects of their lives. The registration fee covers admission into PCJWL wrestling league, as well as WGWC’s SIGNATURE Fight-Gear (this will be returned at the end of the season)! Also the Grizzlies have headgear and shoes that we are able to loan out on a first come basis. Something else worth noting is that every Thursday the Grizzlies play GLOW IN THE DARK DODGEBALL! We know that wrestling is both a mentally and physically taxing sport, taking that into consideration the last practice of the week is half wrestling practice and half active games including dodgeball! It’s paramount for us coaches that our wrestlers and families walk away at the end of the season feeling like they have grown and their investment in their wrestler was fulfilled beyond their highest expectations.
